Quick answer:
  1. 58 EUR is the cheapest group tour with a solid review count, and it runs three and a half hours.
  2. 95 EUR is what the best known operator charges directly, for a tour of the same length.
  3. 16.60 to 38.50 EUR an hour. The spread is wider per hour than it looks per head.
  4. The most reviewed is 74 EUR with 2,585 reviews, not the one with the highest score.
  5. The longest tour is not the dearest. Four hours costs 75; three hours costs 115 in private.

A food tour in Porto costs between 58 and 115 EUR a head, and they all last roughly the same three to four hours. Which means the interesting number is not the price on the booking page. It is what that price buys you per hour, and how much evidence sits behind each one.

Add to that the operator most people land on first, which sells direct rather than through a platform. Its downtown tour costs 95 EUR for three and a half hours, with eight tasting stops, a group capped at twelve and children under thirteen at 45. That is the dearest group tour in this comparison, and the operator has been running longest.

What it costs per hour

Prices are quoted per person. The tours are not the same length, so per person is not the comparison that tells you anything. Per hour, the eight above run from 16.60 to 38.50 EUR.

Traditional Portuguese food and wine18.80 EUR
Private walking food tour28.30 EUR
Progressive dinner tour25.40 EUR
Private, ten tastings38.50 EUR

Two things fall out of that column. The first is that the four-hour tour at 75 EUR is better value per hour (18.80) than the three-hour one at 69 (23.00), even though it looks dearer on the shelf. The second is that the dearest group tour per hour is not a platform product at all: the 95 EUR direct booking works out at 27.10 EUR an hour, above everything except the two private tours.

Private tours are a different purchase and the numbers show it: 28.30 and 38.50 EUR an hour against 16.60 to 25.40 for the groups. You are buying the guide's undivided attention, not more food.

Most reviews is not the same as best rated

Three of these tours score 4.91 or higher. The scores are close enough that what separates them is how many people stand behind each one.

If you want the safest choice on evidence alone, it is the 69 EUR tour with 1,463 reviews at 4.97. If you want the cheapest that still has real volume behind it, that is 58 EUR at 4.91 from 570.

The market stop is free on your own

A large share of these tours routes through the Mercado do Bolhao, to the point that the best known operator names its tour after it. The market is free to walk into. It opens Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 20:00 and Saturday until 18:00, and closes Sundays and public holidays.

That is worth knowing before you book, not to talk you out of a tour but to price it honestly. What the tour adds is the tastings, the ordering in Portuguese and someone choosing the stalls for you. What it does not add is access, because there is no ticket to skip. If what you wanted was to see the market, you can do that for nothing on a Tuesday morning and spend the 58 EUR on lunch.

Questions

How much does a food tour in Porto cost?

Between 58 and 115 EUR a head, read on 19 October 2026. Group tours cluster between 58 and 89; the two private ones are 85 and 115.55. The best known operator in the city sells its downtown tour directly at 95 EUR for three and a half hours, with children under 13 at 45.

Which Porto food tour has the best reviews?

It depends on whether you mean the highest score or the most evidence behind it. The highest scores are 4.97, but one of those comes from 138 reviews. The strongest combination of score and volume is 4.84 from 2,585 reviews at 74 EUR, followed by 4.97 from 1,463 at 69. A 5.0 from 32 reviews is a different kind of number.

How long do Porto food tours last?

Three to four hours, with three and a half the most common. That matters because the prices do not scale with the time: the per-hour cost across the eight compared here runs from 16.60 to 38.50 EUR, and the longest tour on the list is not the most expensive.

Are Porto food tours worth it?

Nobody from this site has taken one, so what this page gives you is the arithmetic rather than a verdict. The useful comparison is that a three-and-a-half-hour tour at 58 EUR includes a full meal and several tastings, which is in the range of what a sit-down lunch plus a couple of glasses would cost you alone in the centre. What you are paying for beyond that is the guide and the choosing.

Do Porto food tours include the Bolhao market?

Many of them pass through it, including the downtown tour from the longest-running operator in the city, which is named after it. The market is free to walk into on your own, Monday to Friday 08:00 to 20:00 and Saturday until 18:00, closed Sundays.

Is it cheaper to book a Porto food tour direct or through a platform?

Not necessarily, and the gap runs the other way more often than people expect. The best known operator charges 95 EUR on its own site for three and a half hours, while comparable group tours on the booking platforms run 58 to 89 for a similar length. They are not identical products, but the price difference is larger than the difference in what is described.
