The six bridges cruise in Porto: the cheap one is the only boat rated below 4

Search for this cruise and you get three honest first person reviews, all asking whether it is worth it, and all describing the same boat. They are good pages. What none of them does is look at what else is on the water that afternoon, and once you do, the boat everybody reviews turns out to be the worst rated of the six.

So this page does the other job. Six cruises, what each costs in euros, how long each lasts, and how many people stand behind the rating. No opinions about the view: nobody here has been on any of them.

The six, compared

Operator prices in euros, read on 22 September 2026. The full day tour is in the table because its listing sells the cruise as part of the day, but ten hours is not comparable with two and its per minute figure should be read with that in mind.

The cheap one is the worst rated

Three point seven nine out of five, on 933 reviews. That is the standard six bridges cruise, the 18 EUR one, the one sold at every kiosk on the quay and the one all three of the pages ranking above this describe.

Nine hundred and thirty three reviews is a lot of evidence. This is not a new listing with three bad ratings dragging it down: it is a heavily sold product that a large number of people came back and marked below four. Every other cruise on this page is above 4.7.

We are not going to tell you why, because we have not been on it and the honest answer is that we do not know. What we can say is that the gap is not subtle. A 3.79 sitting in a field of 4.76, 4.87, 4.90 and 4.97 is the single most useful number on this page, and it is the one number none of the pages above this one mentions.

And it is not even the cheapest

Here is the part that surprised us. The 18 EUR cruise lasts 50 minutes. Every other boat here lasts 120. Divide it out:

• 18 EUR for 50 minutes is 0.36 EUR a minute.
• 39 EUR for 120 minutes is 0.33 EUR a minute.

The cheap ticket is the dearer ride. You pay less at the kiosk and more per minute afloat, and you get a boat rated a full point lower. The 18 EUR is not a budget version of the two hour cruise; it is a different, shorter product that happens to share a name and a route.

That is worth knowing before you decide by price alone at the quay, which is exactly how most of these tickets get sold.

Where you board, and the Freixo confusion

The standard cruises board at the Ribeira quay or across the water in Gaia, which is where you already are. The best rated boat is the exception. The 55 EUR yacht boards at Marina do Freixo, which is 3.7 km upriver from Ribeira, about 5 minutes by road.

That is not a reason to avoid it, but it is a reason not to turn up at the quay expecting to find it. It also means the two hours on the water start somewhere you have to reach first, and the metro does not go there.

And do not confuse the two Freixos. There is a Ponte do Freixo, one of the bridges the cruise passes under, and a Marina do Freixo, the mooring this one boat leaves from. Every page about this cruise mentions the bridge, which makes the name familiar before you ever see it attached to an address.

Six bridges or seven

Six. The reason you will see both numbers is that the operators cannot agree with themselves: the best rated listing is titled a 7 bridges cruise and then says 6 famous bridges in its own description, on the same page.

It does not change what you get. The route is the same stretch of the Douro through the city whichever boat you are on, and the number of bridges you sail under does not move with the price of the ticket. If a listing sells you a seventh bridge as a feature, it is selling you a counting convention.

They are not the same water and they do not look the same. But if what you want is an hour on a boat looking at the river, and you have already booked a day in the valley at 99 EUR, adding an 18 EUR cruise in the city is buying the same experience twice. Those six are everything bookable on this stretch of river, and they are all in the full catalogue with the date each price was last read. If a seventh appears, it goes in both places on the same day.

What this page does not measure

Nobody from this site has been on any of these boats. There is no opinion here about the views, the commentary, the seating or the wine, and the pages ranking above this one are better than this one on exactly those points. Specifically:

• We do not know why the cheap cruise is rated 3.79. We can see that it is, on 933 reviews. We have not read them all and we are not going to guess at the cause.
• Prices are the operator's from figure, which is the cheapest option on the cheapest date. What you pay on a July evening will be higher.
• Sunset and night cruises are priced separately and are not in this comparison.
• Boarding points come from the listings. Only the Marina do Freixo distance was measured.

How this was checked

The six listings were read on the operator on 22 September 2026, in euros, and the per minute figures are simple division of the two numbers each listing publishes. Ratings and review counts are the operator's own as of that date.

One thing worth flagging about currency. The operator's interface returns dollars unless euros are asked for explicitly, and the difference on these six is about 17 per cent. An earlier draft of this comparison had the yacht at 64.31 and the day tour at 57.64, which are the dollar figures. Every price here is in euros and was re checked as such.

The Marina do Freixo distance is from OpenStreetMap via OSRM, driving profile, measured from the Ribeira quay on 22 September 2026. There is no walking time on this page because the public routing server has no pedestrian profile and silently returns the driving one, which would have put 3.7 km at five minutes on foot.

The competing pages were measured before any of this was written: 1,449 to 2,122 words, and not one of the three carries a table or publishes a rating.

What none of them does is compare. All three describe the same 18 EUR cruise, and when you put it next to the other five on the river it turns out to be the only one rated below 4 out of 5, on 933 reviews, and to cost more per minute than a two hour boat that costs twice as much at the counter.
